I believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God in its original manuscripts. I've talked about this in depth on the podcast, go back to Episode 8 if you want the full breakdown, but the short version is this: the Bible was written by approximately 40 different human authors over about 1,500 years, and it tells one singular story of Jesus Christ. Every word was breathed out by God through the power of the Holy Spirit.

"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work."

This is also why I use Logos Bible Software exclusively for my theological research. I take seriously the responsibility of rightly dividing the Word of truth, and I want to make sure that what I bring to you is grounded in Scripture, in its original languages, and in solid historical context. The Word is too important for anything less than that.

I hold to the historically orthodox understanding of the Trinity as expressed in the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed. We've actually walked through a lot of this in our Hebrews series because Hebrews chapter one alone gives us one of the richest pictures of who Jesus is in relation to the Father that exists anywhere in Scripture.

Here's the heart of it:

We worship one God in Trinity and the Trinity in unity not blending their persons, not dividing their essence. The Father is a distinct person. The Son is another. The Holy Spirit is another still. And yet the divinity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is one. Their glory is equal. Their majesty is coeternal.

What that means practically:

God the Father is holy, eternal, and the creator of all things. His holiness demands holiness. His love is the foundation of everything.

Jesus Christ, God the Son, is not an angel, not a prophet, not a created being. He is the begotten Son of God which means He shares the exact same nature as the Father. He is the radiance of God's glory and the exact imprint of His nature (Hebrews 1:3). He took on flesh, lived a sinless life, died on the cross to satisfy the wrath of God, rose from the dead on the third day, ascended to heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father because the work is finished. He is coming back.

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, not a force, not a feeling, but a person. He convicts, He comforts, He teaches, He grows us, and He is the reason any of us can even understand the Word of God when we open it.

All of humanity is born with a predisposition toward sin, and when we act on that sin, it creates a separation between us and a holy God. That separation is the whole problem. And it's a problem none of us can solve on our own.

Our best efforts before God are like filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). The law was given to us so we could see our sin, but the law was never able to save us. That's why Jesus had to come.

Jesus lived the life we could not live. He died the death we deserved. He satisfied the wrath of God on our behalf. And then He rose again proving that He is exactly who He said He was. All we have to do is place our faith in Him.

"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

On this podcast, we talk a lot about what it means to truly place your faith in Jesus, not just as a title, but as Lord. If He is Lord, He guides our lives. We aim to be like Him. We keep His commands, not to earn our salvation, but because we love Him. And He said, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments" (John 14:15 ESV).

"For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

Those who place their faith in Jesus Christ will inherit eternal life, not just in the future, but starting right now. A life of fullness, purpose, and real connection with God from this moment all the way into eternity.

Those who reject Christ by their own conscious choice will remain separated from God. I don't say that lightly and I don't say it to scare anyone. I say it because I believe the Bible is true . . . all of it . . . and this is what it says.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."

This is why testimony matters so much on this podcast. Every story of what God has done in someone's life is a signpost pointing to the reality that He is alive, He is real, and He is still saving people today.

The Church is not a building. It's not one denomination. It's not the people you see on TV who claim to represent us. The Church is the universal body of every believer from every nation, every ethnicity, every age, every stage of life. . . those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

I've done a whole episode on denominations (go back and listen if you haven't!) and my conclusion was this: denominations, when they are submitted to Jesus Christ and rooted in the essential truths of the gospel, can actually be a beautiful thing. The body has many parts. The eye can't say to the hand, "I don't need you."

We need each other.

What unites us is not our worship style or our secondary doctrine. What unites us is Jesus.

"There is one body and one Spirit — just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call — one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all."
— Ephesians 4:4-6 ESV

Salvation is not the finish line. . . it's the starting line. The natural outworking of genuine faith is sanctification: growing more and more like Jesus over time. Not perfectly. Not without struggle. But consistently, by the power of the Holy Spirit working in us.

The fruit of that growth shows up in how we love our husbands, how we mother our kids, how we treat the people around us, how we spend our time, how we use our words. Theology is not just for the classroom. It shows up in your home, in your marriage, in your everyday moments.

I also hold to the historical sexual ethic of Scripture . . . that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, and that sexual intimacy is designed by God to be expressed within that covenant. Anyone who wrestles with any kind of desire and walks in holy restraint is still very much a part of the Body of Christ. The goal for all of us is the same: to grow into the image of Jesus and to be presented before Him as His unstained Bride.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."
